YOUR INITIAL

01

Initial Nutrition Consultation

I provide a thorough assessment based on your stage of CKD, other medical conditions, labs, medications you are taking and your lifestyle. We discuss your overall health goals and will go over a plan to get you there.

I use a step-wise approach with my clients as nutrition with chronic kidney disease is quite complex. We will collaborate to come up with 1-3 action steps to get you on the path to meeting your goals at our first session.

frequently asked questions

I hold the credentials “CSR” which means I am board certified in renal nutrition. Someone who is board certified is considered an expert in that specific area. Chronic kidney disease is complex and optimal nutrition is vital for this population as it can help slow the progression of the disease and help keep people off dialysis. Working with a specialist will ensure you are getting the most accurate, up-to-date, evidenced based information when it comes to nutrition and chronic kidney disease.
All nutrition counseling sessions are conducted via telehealth. Telehealth is a video call and it can be done through a computer, tablet or smartphone. The platform used is HIPPA compliant and user friendly.
If you have an insurance plan I am not contracted with, I will not be able to bill your insurance company directly. Payment is due at time of service. I will provide you with an itemized receipt which you can submit to your insurance company for partial to full reimbursement, depending on your plans rules.

If you have Medicare, medical nutrition therapy is covered for at least 2-3 hours per calendar year if you have a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (stage 3 or beyond, or if you have had a kidney transplant within 36 months) or diabetes. Medicare requires a referral from your doctor to cover nutrition services.

For commercial insurance plans, I am in-network with Allways, Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Harvard Pilgrim and United Healthcare. Nutrition counseling benefits vary widely with these plans. Many plans cover visits in full. You will be given directions on what to ask your insurance company before we schedule our first session.

Appointments should be canceled at least 24 hours in advance. You may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee if you cancel without proper notice. There are no refunds for nutrition services.
